There are so many to pick from including types of bottles that I don't know which to get. Any recommendations would be helpful.

The medela dual electric breast pump is really good. I use a hospital grade pump but they're really pricey. I got lucky finding it at a yard sale for CHEAP!

You can always check craigslist, ebay and freecycle though!

If you know you will be breast feeding for a lengthy period of time then the medela recommended above is very good. If your only planning to nurse maybe say 3 months or so the advent one is good.

That's true.. Mainly because of the cost.

Can I ask what interests you in a pump? For most women it's that they work outside of the home but still want their DC to get breastmilk. For others, they strictly pump. THen there's women who use it to keep their supply up. I thin the answer to that question will help when looking for a pump.

I am personally looking for one to help keep the supply up. I stay at home and will only be bf'ing but i remember with my daughter, i pumped all the time to keep the supply up and to have some on hand in case dh needs to feed or something like that. or in case I feel like having a night out with the girls and don't want my baby drinking what I drank LOL not that I EVER get out...but you just never know LOL

ahh ok.. good to know. That helps! So it wouldn't be a main source of nourishment for baby, but a backup method.

I would say any (dual) electric pump. Doesn't have to be a fancy one. I recommend a dual pump becaue pumping BOTH sides at the same time is more beneficial.

Also, if you're having supply issues, there are vitamin's and herbs you can take to increase it...along with certain foods you eat. Most women don't have supply issues but get worried when they don't think they're getting much out. Pumping is something that causes women to worry about their supply. It's proven that you don't express as much milk while pumping, as you do with actual nursing. That makes women think that they're not producing enough when 9 times out of 10 they are.

Keep an eye on baby's weight. If baby is continuing to gain weight then you're doing just fine :)
